A lovely rare pin by famous Zuni artist John Gordon Leak Leekity. His work was prominently featured in the 1975 Sotheby's auction of the C.G. Wallace collection. John Gordon Leaks was most well-known for his knifewing and dragonfly images. This pretty pin is a perfect example of his work. The central inlaid image is set with a black jet background, with the knifewing of Mother of Pearl, spiny oyster, and turquoise, with a beautiful rope wire and silver drop frame. Not hallmarked which was common during this era.
