This striking sterling
silver Hopi belt buckle is marked with the Hopicrafts
shop hallmark HC. The Hopicraft shop was open from 1962 until 1983. A privately owned business by two Hopi brothers, Wayne and Emory Sekaqualtewa whom later move their business from Phoenix to Kykotsmovi. The jewelry produced at the shop was always well-made, with very close attention to the clean, fine detail of each piece. Competition brought on by the quality being produced at Hopicrafts shop helped improve quality of all Hopi jewelry being made during this period. The buffalo looks very similar to Steven Sockymas wonderful Buffalo design. Steven learn at Hopi Craft.
A soft satin finish and aged patina make this a very attractive piece. There is some wear on the silver. It measures 3 1/2" wide by 2 1/4 tall. It will hold up to a 1 7/8" belt. Hallmarked with the Hopicraft HC.
