Description

Hopi artist Bernard Dawahoya was considered by all to be a master silversmith. His bold and clean designs along with the precise matting or texture he worked into the negative areas of this pieces, made his work easily recognizable. His Hopi name was Masaqueva (Wings of the sun). He was born in the second Mesa village of Shungopavi. Not only a master jeweler, but a respected storyteller and a man of great talents. He passed away in 2010. His work is displayed in Museums across the country and in many publications.

This lovely pendant has his precise Hopi overlay design of a Kokopelli (Hunchback flute player) figure on one side and a wonderful Hopi design on the other side. This pendant has substantial weight and a smooth satin finish on both sides. A handmade silver chain accompanies the pendant.

It measures 2 1/8" tall by 1 1/8" wide, including bail. The chain is 23" total length. Not Hallmarked, because of no place to mark, but purchased with several other pieces of his. We are confident that this is Bernard's work.
