Description

This lovely heavy necklace has an early C.G. Wallace traders (price) code which dates it from 1928 into the 1940's. It also has the stamp, give to trader C.G. Wallace US Navajo 2, on both the naja and one of the corn stalks. Us Navajo 2 appears on Navajo pieces sold from the Sanders and Cedar Point trading posts in Arizona. This outstanding necklace gives a view into the amazing work being done by artist Eskiesose.

Eskiesose was best known for his stamp making abilities and cast work. Both he and Hosteen Goodluck were commissioned to make stamps for trader C.G. Wallace. He was one of only a few master jewelers and active from the 1910's to 1940's. This lovely necklace offers hand crafting of ingot silver with a lovely cast Naja. Each of the 16 cast fleur-de-lis or corn stalks are set with beautiful Natural turquoise stones and have fine stamp work on each one. A similar necklace with the same stamping is found in the C.G. Wallace Collection auction book, which was made in 1929. There is slight variations in each of the components, making this truly a special piece. Not hallmarked, but strong attribution to Eskiesose's work.

The total length is 28" long including the Naja which measures 3" long by 2 1/8" wide.
