Description

This gorgeous concho belt by well-known Zuni artist John Gordon (Leak) Leekity, offers both fine, precise inlaid knifewing figures and beautiful stamp work on the silver concho's. His work was prominently featured in the 1975 Sotheby's auction of the C.G. Wallace collection. John Gordon Leak was best known for his mosaic inlaid knifewings, arrows and dragonfly images. This lovely link concho belt is a perfect example of his amazing work.

The central inlaid images are set in a black jet background, with the knifewings of Mother of Pearl, spiny oyster, and turquoise that are slightly raised in the center of the round
repousse silver concho's. The very fine stamp work is just beautiful and is also on each of the silver links! A beautiful patina graces the entire belt, which is in excelant condition. Not hallmarked which was common during this early era.

The buckle measures 2 1/8" diameter, with each concho measuring 1 7/8" diameter. The length is 34 1/4" long. Additional links can be crafted and added upon request.
