Description

This Koyemsi Kachina was carved and signed by Navajo carver Tom Benally. It measures 3" tall by 1 3/4" wide. He is in excellent condition, with no cracks or broken parts. The extra accents to this Mud Head are a leather pack which carries 2 small children, both having fine detail. The carver has signed his hallmark on the bottom wood stand.
The Mud Head Kachina is a multi-faceted clown introduced from the Zuni. They may appear on the First Mesa and possibly other villages. Their songs are in Zuni. They often engage in games with the children in the audience or appear as a single drummer for a group. These kachinas appear in almost every Hopi dance. (Koyemsi, Mud Head Kachina).
