Begay. This outstanding tufa cast piece features a stone figure design with an inlaid red coral neck piece. The contrasting textures and petroglyph figures creates an amazing piece of art! The buckle measures 3 1/4" long by 1 3/4" wide. The Gem grade, natural stone measures 1 1/4" by 7/8". Just outstanding workmanship!
Born
on the Navajo Reservation, Darryl Dean Begay was raised in the
traditional Navajo way of life. He is from a family of artists; his
grandmother was a weaver and his grandfather a ceremonial sandpainter.
It is from this background that his art emerges, creating one-of-a-kind,
limited edition jewelry pieces in sterling silver and gold.
He
has exhibited his work and won awards at many shows, including the
Santa Fe Indian Market, the Heard Museum Market, Pueblo Grande Indian
Market, the Wheelwright Museum, and the Eight Northern Pueblos Show.
