This beautifully crafted belt buckle was created by award winning Jicarilla Apache/Navajo artist Gibson Nez. (1947-2007). Gibson was a rodeo bronc rider and a stunt man in his younger days. He loved working with a variety of materials, which were always of the best quality. Considered a master silversmith in the 1970's and was honored along with other at a special ceremony in Gallup, NM.
This wonderful domed belt buckle is set with a gem quality Lapis Lazuli stone with its vivid deep blue color and small flecks of pyrite. The heavy silver design and precise stamp and file silver work is a perfect example of Gibson's quality workmanship. Not a lightweight buckle! 138 grams. Hallmarked GNZ. The buckle measure 3 3/4" long by 2 1/2" tall and will hold a 1 1/2" belt.
