Victor Coochwytewa was one of three Native American elders
chosen as Arizona Indian Living Treasures at the seventh annual AILTA award
ceremony held in Phoenix in September 1994. This recognition is but one of the
many accolades bestowed upon the Master Hopi Jeweler in a career spanning more
than half a century. Decorated World War II Veteran (1922-2011). Victor retired from Hopi Silversmithing and his beloved farming in 2006. He continued living with his family at Hopi. Victor passed away at the age of 89 on July 3, 2011. An accomplished master Hopi jeweler and a humble man. Victor's work is not only amazing but highly collectable.
These lovely overlay earrings offer the best of Victors work, with a simple yet elegant design of the Hummingbird. A soft satin patina graces this pair.
They are hallmarked with one of his early (rare) hallmarks, that recently was verified by Billie Hougart, just prior to Billie's passing. Another of Victors (Rain Cloud). They measure 1 1/2" long by 1 1/8" wide, not including silver posts.
