Description

This lovely single strand Pueblo necklace features a mix of Natural Blue Gem turquoise tabs with clam shell heishi, 4 small shell corns at the top. 2 beautiful Jacla's accompany the necklace and can be taken off. They have a clasp that can be opened for removal. A great deal of hard work goes into the making of these type necklaces. It is just beautiful on! The tab necklace is 21" long total length with the addition of 5" long jacla's. The clam shell heishi is around 5mm. Perfect for anyone to wear.

This style of beadwork is thought to be the oldest form of jewelry from New Mexico and is still practiced today mostly among Native Americans of the Santo Domingo (Kewa) and San Felipe Pueblos. These necklaces have been worn for decades by many different tribes. It predates the metalworking and lapidary techniques practiced by the Navajo, Hopi and Zuni, which were introduced by Europeans.

This necklace is all Native American hand crafted and is not foreign made, dyed or treated heishi from overseas.
