Description

Lawrence had been a silversmith for over 60 years and his work has been featured in numerous publications and collected by museums such as the Heard Museum, Phoenix, the Museum of Northern Arizona, and the Peabody Museum, Harvard University. He was a master at his craft and a kind man. He passed away in 2011.

This is a wonderful Shadow box overlay bolo, depicting a Hopi Mud Head figure. Lawrence added a beautiful overlay frame to showcase the raised dancer. In the light you can actually see its shadow. It measures 3 5/8" tall by 2 1/8" wide, with 2 1/2" heavy silver tips. The black braided (flat neck) leather measures 44" total length including the tips. Hallmarked with his bear.

This bolo is one of many collected by a teacher that wore his bolos every day to his classroom. Many I will be showing have the year he wore them and in what class he was teaching. It's an honor to share some of his special bolos with others.
