This vintage 1940's Zuni Knifewing necklace is inlaid with natural Blue Gem turquoise, jet, mother of pearl and red Abalone shell. The age and style of figures lends this piece to Master Zuni artists, Yelmo and Betty Natachu. Best known for their finely detailed mosaic inlay of Knifewing and Rainbow man figures. The necklace is assembled on a double row of early, heavy silver beads. A beautiful patina graces the entire piece.
The beautiful necklace measures, 31" total length, including bottom figure. The center figure measures 2 5/8" by 2 1/4". The smaller knifewing figures measure 1 7/8" by 1 1/2". This necklace is more than jewelry, but a visual reminder of the incredible talent of the early Zuni inlayers! Not hallmarked, but has an etched traders code.
