Description

The most renowned fetish carvers are the Zuni, who call themselves Asiwi (Ah-she-wee). Traditionally, Zuni fetishes are small carvings made from various materials by the Zuni Indians. These carvings serve a ceremonial purpose for their creators and depict animals and icons integral to their culture. As a form of contemporary Native American art, they are sold with non-religious intentions to collectors worldwide. This nicely carved bear with a arrowhead bundle was created by Al Lasiloo and measures 2 1/4" long by 1 1/2" tall by 5/8" wide. The material used is Arizona jasper.
