The
Pilot Mountain turquoise mine is located in Nevada, near Mineral county. Pilot Mountain turquoise is
known for it vast array of blue/green colors often found in a single stone. The variety of matrix colors range from dark brown, cream, black, orange to deep red. One of the
mines made famous for its extremely rare ability to form dendrites
(manganese) in the turquoise. Pilot Mountain turquoise also produces
some very high grade spiderweb stones, with interesting web matrix
patterns. It is a hard stone
and takes a good high polish that retains color longer and is resistant
to skin oils.
