Description

The most renowned fetish carvers are the Zuni, who call themselves Asiwi (Ah-she-wee). Traditionally, Zuni fetishes are small carvings made from various materials by the Zuni Indians. These carvings serve a ceremonial purpose for their creators and depict animals and icons integral to their culture. As a form of contemporary Native American art, they are sold with non-religious intentions to collectors worldwide. This simply carved fetish is not signed and measures 2 1/4" long by 1" tall by 1" wide. The material used is deer antler with inlaid dots of turquoise and jet.
